Dolly Smith, RN MS, IBCLC
As a registered nurse and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Maternal Child Nursing, Dolly has worked with families since 1983. She has practiced in hospitals, in clinics, in client’s homes and in the community. She lived and worked in Colorado where she got her Undergraduate degree from Loretto Heights College in Denver. In Hawaii, she got her Master’s degree from the University of Hawaii and worked at Kapiolani Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente.

In Washington, she completed a post partum doula training course at Seattle Midwifery School and owns After the Stork, a post partum doula care and lactation support/education service. She has been internationally board certified (IBCLC) as a lactation consultant since 1995. Currently, Dolly teaches families breastfeeding in classes for Great Starts Birth and Family Education; teaches breastfeeding to post partum doulas at Bastyr University and is a breastfeeding counselor at Birth and Beyond.

In 2003 Dolly and her husband, Mac, adopted their daughter from China. This event not only opened up the world of motherhood and parenting to Dolly, it allowed her follow a professional journey of embracing the specialty of nursing adopted children and teaching adoptive parenting classes. In addition to being a stay at home mom and her part-time professional work, Dolly enjoys cooking with the philosophy “feed the world”.
