Barbara Orcutt, RN, MN

Barbara Orcutt RN MN CLC is a lactation consultant with more than 35 years experience. She began providing breastfeeding support as a maternal/child nurse at Colorado General Hospital in 1973---back when there was very little breastfeeding education or research, no equipment and scant public support for breastfeeding.

Happily times have changed! A clinical nurse specialist (Master of Nursing in Parent Child Nursing from the University of Washington 1980), she joined the Childbirth Education Association of Seattle’s breastfeeding services in 1984 and became its Director in 1988. Today she is the coordinator of the breastfeeding services at Birth and Beyond.
